Sky Chart For The Month of November, 2012 [INDIA SPECIFIC]


ASTRONOMICAL BULLETIN FOR NOVEMBER 2012

The Moon
Last Quarter occurs on 07th at h. 06-06 I.S.T.
New Moon occurs on 14th at h. 03-38 I.S.T.
First Quarter occurs on 20th at h. 20-01 I.S.T.
Full Moon occurs on 28th at h. 20-16 I.S.T.
  
The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 15th.
The Moon is at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 1st and 29th and at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 14th.
The Moon passes about 1º south of Jupiter on 2nd, about 5½ º south of Venus on 11th, about 4½º south of Saturn on 13th, 1º north of Mercury on 14th, 4 º north of Mars on 16th, about 6½º north of Neptune on 21st,, about 5º north of Uranus on 23rd , about ½ º south of Jupiter on 29th.
Eclipse
Total Eclipse of the Sun : The phenomenon will occur on 14th November, 2012. The eclipse begins at 01-08 I.S.T. and ends at 6-16 I.S.T. The eclipse will not be visible from India.
The Planets
The Visibility of Planets :
Mercury: The planet sets about 1½ hours to 1 hour after sunset till 9th of the month. Thereafter, it becomes too close to the sun to be visible upto 21st, being in Inferior Conjunction on 17th. It rises about ½ hour to 1½ hours before sunrise and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet becomes Retrograde and Direct with respect to the Earth on 7th and 27th respectively.
Venus: The planet is a brilliant object visible in the eastern sky. It rises about 2½ hours to 2 hours before sunrise and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight through the month. It approaches the Perihelion position in its orbit or reaches nearest to the Sun on 1st.
Mars: The planet is visible in the western sky in the evening. It sets about 2½ hours to 2 hours after sunset throughout the month.
Jupiter: The planet rises after sunset and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight throughout the month. It rises about 2 hours to 1 hour after sunset upto 3rd quarter of the month and about 1 hour to close to sunset time for the remaining days of the month
Saturn: The planet is too close to the Sun to be visible upto 7th of the month. Thereafter, it rises before sunrise and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight. It rises about 1 hour to 1½ hours before sunrise upto second quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month.
Uranus: The planet sets before sunrise throughout the month. It sets about 2½ hours to 3 hours before sunrise upto first quarter of the month, about 3 hours to 3½ hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 2 hours before local midnight during third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 1½ hours before local midnight for the remaining days of the month.
Neptune: The planet sets around local midnight time throughout the month. It sets about 1 hour to ½ hour after local midnight upto first quarter of the month, about ½ hour after it to close to local midnight time upto second quarter of the month, around local midnight time to ½ hour before it upto third quarter of the month and about ½ hour to 1 hour before it for the remaining days of the month. The motion of the planet is Direct with respect to Earth on 11th. The planet is in Quadrature with the sun on 22nd.
Conjunction of Planets :
Venus passes about 4º north of Spica (Chitra) on 16th.
Venus passes about ½º south of Saturn on 27th .
