Proxima Centauri. That's why it has the name Proxima, as in close proximity. It's about 4.2 light years away. It's only visible in the Southern hemisphere, or very far south in the Northern hemisphere. But isn't visible to the naked eye. It's "relatively" close at about 24 TRILLION miles, but it's a red dwarf, and is very dim. It's believed to be part of the Alpha Centauri star system. Alpha Centauri is actually a binary star, Alpha Centauri A and B.
