Sky Chart For The Month of September, 2012

ASTRONOMICAL BULLETIN FOR SEPTEMBER 2012
The Moon
Last Quarter occurs on 08th at h. 18-45 I.S.T.
New Moon occurs on 16th at h. 07-41 I.S.T.
First Quarter occurs on 23rd at h. 01-11 I.S.T
Full Moon occurs on 30th at h. 08-49 I.S.T
  
The Lunar Crescent becomes first visible after the New Moon day in the evening of 17th.
The Moon is at Apogee or farthest from the Earth on 07th and at Perigee or nearest to the Earth on 19th.
The Moon passes 5º north of Uranus in the early morning of 3rd, about ½º south of Jupiter on 8th, about 3½º south of Venus on 12th, about 6º south of Mercury on 16th, 5º south of Saturn on 18th, very close to Mars on 20th, about 6º north of Neptune on 27th and 5º north of Uranus on 30th.
The Earth
The Earth is at Autumnal Equinox on 22nd.
The Planets
The Visibility of Planets :
Mercury: The planet is too close to the Sun to be visible upto 29th of the month, being in Superior Conjunction with the Sun on 10th. Thereafter it sets about ½ hour after sunset on the last day of the month.
Venus: It is a brilliant object, rises after local midnight and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight. It rises about 2 hours to 2½ hours after local midnight throughout the month.
Mars: The planet is visible in the evening sky and sets after sunset throughout the month. It sets about 3 hours to 2½ hours after sunset throughout the month.
Jupiter: The planet rises before local midnight and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight throughout the month. It rises about 1 hour to 1½ hours before local midnight upto first quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month The planet is in Quadrature with the Sun on 7th.
Saturn: The planet is visible in the western sky after sunset. It sets about 2½ hours to 2 hours after sunset upto second quarter of the month, about 2 hours to 1½ hours after it upto third quarter of the month and about 1½ hours to 1 hour after it for the remaining days of the month.
Uranus: The planet rises after sunset and remains visible till the beginning of morning twilight. It rises about 1½ hours to 1 hour after sunset upto first quarter of the month, about 1 hour to ½ hour after it upto third quarter of the month and about ½ hour to close to sunset time for the remaining days of the month, being in Opposition with the Sun on 29th.
Neptune: The planet sets about ½ hour to 1 hour before sunrise upto first quarter of the month, about 1 hour to 1½ hours before it upto second quarter of the month, about 1½ hours to 2 hours before it upto third quarter of the month and about 2 hours to 2½ hours before it for the remaining days of the month.
Conjunction of Planets :
Mercury passes about 1½º north of Regulus (Magha) on 1st
Venus passes about 9 º south of Pollux (Punarbasu) on 2nd.
